PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bob Bunkers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Flo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bob Bunkers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Flo!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Flo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bunkers sprawls well initially but Flo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bunkers is not content to let Flo control the position.
Bunkers is looking to improve his position.

Flo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bunkers is just riding it out for now. Flo eventually gives up the hold.
Flo wants to stand up but Bunkers is controlling the position.
Bunkers is trying to maintain the position but Flo is very close to passing his half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bunkers actively working from the bottom here.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Flo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bunkers to the mat! Bunkers manages to get full guard.

Flo gets to his feet. Bunkers looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Flo tries to close the distance and clinch but Bunkers swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bunkers gets caught flat footed, as Flo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Bunkers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bunkers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Bunkers has his foot on Flo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Flo works his way back into a safe position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bunkers wants to get back to his feet but Flo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bunkers throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Flo wants to control from the top but Bunkers keeps moving.

Flo stands and steps away. Bunkers gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Flo looks gassed!
Bunkers thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Flo if he has to take too many more of those.
Bunkers scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bunkers with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bunkers!


It looks like Dan Flo has been cut.
Bunkers misses with a takedown

and Flo counters with a takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bunkers is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Flo off and has taken his back!

Will Bunkers go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bunkers is hanging on to Flo's back as he tries to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bunkers working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Bunkers tries to get the hooks in deep but Flo pushed the leg off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bob Bunkers will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Dan Flo's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bunkers tries to clinch up but Flo circles away and keeps his distance.
Bunkers is looking to clinch.
Bunkers pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bunkers closes this distance looking for a takedown but Flo circles away.
Bunkers fails with the takedown.

Bunkers gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Flo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Bunkers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Flo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Flo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Flo is breathing heavily.
Flo wants to stand but Bunkers is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bunkers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bunkers keeping moving, preventing Flo from controlling successfully.
Flo passes into half guard.
Bunkers makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bunkers.
Dan Flo has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bunkers is pulling down on Flo's head to control his posture.

Bunkers tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bunkers looking to control.
Bunkers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Flo swats away the attempt to clinch by Bunkers.
Bunkers gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Flo counters with a good low kick that Bunkers was not able to check.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bob Bunkers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bunkers pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bob Bunkers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bunkers tries to clinch but Flo moves away

and Flo counters by clinching up.

Flo pulls Bunkers into guard.
Bunkers trying to control but Flo is working from the bottom.
Bunkers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Flo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Flo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bunkers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bunkers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dan Flo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Flo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bunkers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Flo thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Bunkers has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Flo is proving hard to escape from.
Flo throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Flo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bunkers.
Bunkers looking to sit in guard and control but Flo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Flo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Flo trying to control the position from guard on top but Bunkers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Flo gets a clinch.
Bunkers can't break the clinch.
Flo tries to pull guard but Bunkers holds him up against the cage and eventually Flo drops back down to his feet.
Flo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bunkers pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Bunkers is trying to break free.
Flo tries to score a body lock takedown but Bunkers shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Bob Bunkers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Flo.
Flo fails to pull guard.
Bunkers is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Flo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Bunkers gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bunkers scores with a jab. Flo acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Flo stands up and waves to Bunkers to follow him.
Bunkers thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Flo if he has to take too many more of those.

Bunkers moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Bunkers throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Flo's head.
Bob Bunkers is winning the standup battle so far.
Bunkers lands with a nice combination. Flo backs away looking to recover.
Bunkers fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Flo fails with a takedown attempt.
Bunkers tests Flo's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Flo stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bunkers.
Bunkers tries to clinch up.
Flo takes a head kick and keeps coming.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bunkers has a takedown stuffed.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Flo shoots in and bounces Bunkers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bunkers is trying to keep Flo in close.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bob Bunkers showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bunkers has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
