PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Bolleke (ranked 168 p4p, 839 weight class) and Marko Bakar (ranked 26 p4p, 127 weight class). Bolleke comes to the cage accompanied by RGP - DANG DIGGI BANG. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marko Bakar!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bakar misses with a head kick.
Bolleke drops down looking for a counter takedown but Bakar sprawls and moves away.
A head kick misses from Bakar.
Bolleke misses with a straight right.
Bakar lands with a right hand.
Bolleke looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Bolleke gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Bolleke is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bakar.

Bolleke connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Marko Bakar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab lands there for Bakar.
Bakar looks to land a right hand but Bolleke moved out of range.
Bakar misses with a straight left.
Bakar slips under a jab from Bolleke.
Bakar throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bolleke ducks under a wild hook from Bakar.
Bolleke tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bakar was well out of range. Poor timing from Bolleke.
Bakar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bakar tries to score with a low kick but Bolleke moves his leg out of the way.
Bolleke changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bakar tries to avoid it but Bolleke manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bakar to the ground. Bakar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bakar throws out a counter right but Bolleke avoids it with no problem.

Bakar lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bolleke avoids the head kick by Bakar.
Bolleke throws a hook to the side of Bakar's head but Bakar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bolleke tries to move into range but Bakar moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Bolleke has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bakar finds it's way round the side to connect with Bolleke's head.

Bolleke walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Bolleke throws out a loose jab but Bakar uses good head movement to avoid it.

Bakar throws the left hand but Bolleke avoids the punch easily.
Bakar might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bolleke looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Bakar throws an overhand right that lands on Bolleke's shoulder, as Bolleke tries to avoid the shot.
Bakar is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bolleke had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Bakar wants to control but Bolleke is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bakar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bakar is looking for a sweep. Bolleke is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bolleke seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bakar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Bolleke is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bakar defends it well.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Oscar Bolleke will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bakar throws a looping overhand right but Bolleke ducks down to avoid it.
Bakar thuds his right hand into Bolleke's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Bolleke takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Bakar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bolleke paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Bakar is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Bolleke throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bolleke shoots in for a takedown but Bakar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Bolleke counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bakar won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bolleke is staying tight to Bakar's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Bolleke lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Bolleke connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bakar some visible discomfort.
Bakar is looking to regain half guard here but Bolleke keeps moving and retains side control.
Bakar is trying to control Bolleke's posture but Bolleke avoids it.

Bolleke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bakar is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Oscar Bolleke overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bolleke lands a nice short elbow.

Bolleke is nestled in close to Bakar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Bolleke seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bakar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Bolleke looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bolleke takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Bakar is trying to control but can't.
Bolleke working over Bakar with some ground and pound. Bakar looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Bakar is in trouble now - Bolleke has advanced to mount!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bolleke cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Bakar tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Bolleke has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Bolleke landing strikes from the mount.
Bakar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bolleke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bolleke breaks from Bakar's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Bolleke postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Bakar badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Bolleke around the waist but Bolleke pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Bolleke is the winner by TKO! Bolleke jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Oscar Bolleke!
