Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Cornwall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rickson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Cornwall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rickson Silva!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a sloppy head kick and Cornwall moves out of range easily.

Cornwall scores a takedown into full mount!

Cornwall moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Silva has worked his arm free - good work by Silva!

Cornwall tries for a kimura but Silva is defending well.

Cornwall thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Silva is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Cornwall has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Cornwall tries to move into full mount but can't pass Silva's legs.

Silva is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Cornwall is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Silva is trying to buck Cornwall off.

Cornwall looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Cornwall tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Cornwall is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Silva has escaped the position, nice work there.

Cornwall goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Silva rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cornwall's guard! Nice work there by Silva!

Cornwall escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Silva avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Silva pushes down on Cornwall's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Silva wants to pass the guard but Cornwall is defending well.

Silva is thwarting Cornwall's attempts to control the position.

Silva decides to stand up.
Silva throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cornwall tries to clinch but Silva is having none of it.
Rickson Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cornwall misses with a wild body shot.
Silva fails with an attempt to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Cornwall dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Ken Cornwall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Silva keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cornwall tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control.

The fighters are battling for position here. Cornwall manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva gets to his feet - Cornwall follows without any prompting.
Cornwall shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense.
Cornwall avoids the head kick by Silva.
Silva stuffs the takedown attempt from Cornwall. Cornwall gets slowly back to his feet.
Cornwall wants to clinch but Silva slips to the side

and Silva counters with a head kick that drops Cornwall - he's looking to finish, following his stunned foe to the ground!


Cornwall is rocked!

Cornwall looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Oh Cornwall is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Silva seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Cornwall trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Cornwall seems to have got his legs back now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silva wants to get back to his feet but Cornwall is holding on tight.
Cornwall flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Cornwall sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cornwall keeps working.

Silva is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cornwall doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Silva.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rickson Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

enabling Silva to counter with a crisp jab.

Cornwall tries to keep at a distance but Silva has taken the fight into the clinch.
Silva throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Cornwall blocks it with crossed arms.
Silva misses with a hook from the clinch.
Cornwall missing with knees to the body.
Silva throws a head punch that misses.

Silva misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Cornwall looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Cornwall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cornwall can't get the takedown.
Silva cracks Cornwall with a nice body shot.
Cornwall will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Silva up against the cage.
Silva misses with a knee strike.
Silva wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Silva lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Cornwall avoids a wild elbow strike from Silva.
Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cornwall jumps guard but Silva stands there with Cornwall around his waist. Cornwall gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Silva pushes Cornwall back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cornwall takes a knee right on the jaw!
Silva looking to throw knees to the head but Cornwall is blocking nicely.

Cornwall ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cornwall no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Cornwall is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.
Ken Cornwall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cornwall looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Silva trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cornwall's guard.

Cornwall is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Silva wants to get up but he can't break Cornwall's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Cornwall working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cornwall wants to hit a switch here but Silva passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Cornwall there!
Cornwall keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ken Cornwall.
I think Cornwall has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
