PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vinny Dias (ranked 629 p4p, 2548 weight class) and Johnny Sins (ranked 85 p4p, 332 weight class). Johnny Sins will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vinny Dias!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Sins!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sins pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Dias half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Sins misses with a two punch combination.
Dias listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Sins fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sins scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Dias doesn't seem bothered though.
Sins is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Sins forces Dias back against the cage and clinches.
Sins doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Dias blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Dias drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dias tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sins misses with some punches.

Dias ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dias no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Dias is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sins is aware though and is defending well.

Dias has his foot on Sins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sins works his way back into a safe position though.

Sins's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dias looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dias swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dias has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dias manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sins manages to get himself to full guard.

Sins controls Dias momentarily but Dias frees himself.

Dias controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Sins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dias. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sins seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dias passes Sins's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Sins is looking for a sweep. Dias is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dias is working away from the top position though.
Dias wants to control but Sins is keeping him busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dias has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sins finds it's way round the side to connect with Dias's head.

Dias has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sins misses with a punch on the inside.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sins has a couple of punches blocked by Dias.
Sins is leaning against Dias and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Sins's coach down at Blacksmith MMA Gym πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Sins's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Dias drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sins gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vinny Dias. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sins misses with a hook from the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vinny Dias will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Sins sizes up Dias with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Dias shoots in looking for a takedown but Sins manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dias's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Dias is trying to drag Sins to the mat but Sins just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Dias has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Sins clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Sins wants to control his opponent's hands but Dias gets his hands free.

Dias is landing with strikes from the back.
Sins is in bad spot here.
Sins is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Dias off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Sins trying to control the position but Dias manages to sink in the hooks.

Sins won't enjoy being in this position. Dias looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Sins is tapping - it's over boys! Dias picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Vinny Dias!
