Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gavin Roper (ranked 4399 p4p, 4400 weight class) and Keagan Harkett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harkett is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Hope. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gavin Roper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keagan Harkett!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Topper Green and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roper tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Harkett counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Harkett scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Roper tries to clinch there but Harkett circles away.
Harkett fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Roper avoids it really well and circles away.
Roper wants to clinch but Harkett slips to the side
and Harkett counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Harkett's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Harkett shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Roper as he jumps to the side.

Harkett wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Roper has him pressed against the cage.

Roper keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

The fight stays on the outside here - Roper looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Horrible takedown attempt by Harkett or perhaps it was just good defense by Roper, which made it look bad.

Harkett darts in and clinches Roper up against the cage.

Roper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Harkett swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Harkett manages to break the clinch.
Harkett changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Roper tries to avoid it but Harkett manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Roper to the ground. Roper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Harkett swats away the attempt to clinch by Roper.
Gavin Roper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roper moves to clinch but Harkett breaks away
and Harkett counters with a series of strikes. Roper will be more careful next time no doubt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Harkett closes the distance and pushes Roper back into the cage.

A nice right hand lands inside from Harkett.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Keagan Harkett dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Harkett has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
