PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keagan Harkett (ranked 4439 p4p, 4206 weight class) and Mario Betiskuda (ranked 0 p4p, 437 weight class). Harkett comes to the cage accompanied by Hope. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keagan Harkett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mario Betiskuda!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Ben Hemmingworth and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harkett tries to clinch up but Betiskuda circles away and keeps his distance.
Betiskuda misses with an attempted mid kick.

Harkett closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Betiskuda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Betiskuda closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Harkett closes the distance but Betiskuda moves to the side
and Betiskuda counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Keagan Harkett has been cut.
Harkett bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harkett tries to close the distance and clinch up but Betiskuda swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Betiskuda throws a body punch but Harkett moves out of range.
Harkett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Betiskuda displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Harkett.
As Harkett backs off Betiskuda throws a huge counter combo but Harkett manages to avoid it all.
Mario Betiskuda is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harkett is looking to clinch but Betiskuda is avoiding it.
A nice side step and Betiskuda releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Betiskuda lands with a nice body kick.
Harkett cracks Betiskuda with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Harkett looks to land a combination but Betiskuda avoids it well.
Harkett looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Betiskuda is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Some wild striking there from Harkett.
A countering left hand to the body from Betiskuda misses.
Harkett shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Betiskuda looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Harkett gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Betiskuda counters with a perfectly timed head kick, knocking Harkett out cold! Wow, that took some serious skill and not a little luck! Betiskuda is taking it in his stride though, strolling around like it's no big deal. What a guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Mario Betiskuda!
Mario Betiskuda bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
The defeated Keagan Harkett had this to say: 'I WILL COME BACK'.
