CWC 338 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 12 losses; Disco Kid! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 10 losses; Cicero Verus!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Kid drives through with a takedown into Verus's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Kid (2) vs (0) Verus
Verus pulls Kid in close to prevent any damage.
Kid slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kid trying to control the position from guard on top but Verus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Verus is pulling down on Kid's head. It's preventing any offense from Kid, at least for the moment.
Verus controls Kid momentarily but Kid frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Verus looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Kid puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Kid is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Verus doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kid.

Kid has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Verus is working to tighten his grip on Kid's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kid has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Verus is really squeezing tight and eventually Kid passes out! Verus breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
