Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Barnes (ranked 2028 p4p, 2912 weight class) and Noah Ortega (ranked 269 p4p, 375 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Noah Ortega!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes is looking to land body kicks.

Barnes throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ortega was covering up waiting for the punch and Barnes finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ortega wants to sweep but no luck.
Ortega told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Ortega working for a triangle but Barnes defends it easily.
Ortega trying to keep a closed guard but Barnes is proving a slippery customer.
Barnes passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Ortega is trying to control Barnes's posture but Barnes avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Barnes postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ortega is looking to reverse the position.
Ortega is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Ortega looking for a sweep but Barnes has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Barnes prevents Ortega from getting the reversal.
Ortega manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Barnes trying to mount his opponent but Ortega defends it.

Barnes has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Ortega is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Barnes is staying active.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Barnes prevents Ortega from improving his position.

Ortega is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Ortega is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Ortega seems keen to control Barnes's posture.
Barnes stands up over Ortega, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Ortega is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Barnes frees his head nicely. Oh but Ortega has switched to an armbar! Barnes is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
