PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tatu Lehto (ranked 1732 p4p, 3974 weight class) and Yoji Anjo Anjo (ranked 233 p4p, 479 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tatu Lehto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yoji Anjo Anjo!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lehto has Anjo up against the cage in a clinch.
Anjo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lehto gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lehto tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Anjo tightens his grip and picks Lehto up, before dumping him to the ground. Lehto manages to land in guard.
Anjo passes Lehto's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Lehto avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Anjo.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Anjo in particular looking to stall.
Anjo is looking to advance position but Lehto won't allow it.

Anjo stands up and beckons Lehto to join him on the feet.
Lehto throws a head kick that half lands.

It looks like Yoji Anjo Anjo has been cut.

Lehto moves into the clinch successfully.

Anjo tries to score a body lock takedown but Lehto shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Lehto throws a sloppy head kick and Anjo moves out of range easily.

Tatu Lehto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Anjo instigates a clinch.
Lehto swings wildly with an uppercut but Anjo uses good head movement to avoid it.

Anjo has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lehto is trying to keep an underhook but Anjo manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Lehto pushes Anjo off looking to stand but Anjo dives back in and keeps control.

Anjo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lehto manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lehto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
