PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Bloodaxe (ranked 500 p4p, 773 weight class) and Zabit Hussein (ranked 74 p4p, 120 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Gunnar Bloodaxe has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gunnar Bloodaxe seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Bloodaxe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zabit Hussein!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hussein swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hussein takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bloodaxe walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Bloodaxe waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hussein.
Hussein looks to throw a body kick
and Bloodaxe connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bloodaxe looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Bloodaxe takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Hussein tries a head kick but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hussein throws a right hand that misses
and Bloodaxe counters with an inside leg kick.
Hussein throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bloodaxe was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Bloodaxe looks to land a right hand but Hussein moved out of range.

Hussein rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bloodaxe counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bloodaxe scoring well with a low kick there.
Bloodaxe takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Hussein has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hussein there as he acknowledges the shot.
Hussein throws a low kick but it's checked well by Bloodaxe.
Bloodaxe looks to land a right hand but Hussein moved out of range.
Despite the aggression on Hussein's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Hussein scores with a jab to the body.
Hussein misses with an uppercut
and Bloodaxe counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Hussein throws a looping overhand right but Bloodaxe ducks down to avoid it.
Bloodaxe is looking to counter punch.
Hussein takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Bloodaxe tests Hussein's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hussein connects with a solid leg kick.
Bloodaxe ducks under a wild hook from Hussein.
Hussein rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bloodaxe counters with a slapping leg kick.

And Hussein responds with a good body kick, but Bloodaxe manages to step out the way in time.
Bloodaxe lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Hussein uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bloodaxe.
Sloppy strikes from Hussein. Those never looked like landing.
Hussein misses with a kick to the body
and Bloodaxe counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hussein motions for Bloodaxe to come forward. Hussein throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hussein misses with a right hand
and Bloodaxe counters with a left and a right that stings Hussein.
Bloodaxe stuns Hussein with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Bloodaxe misses with an uppercut.
Hussein throws out a counter right but Bloodaxe avoids it with no problem.
Hussein takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Hussein takes a swing at Bloodaxe's ribcage but misses.
Bloodaxe scores with a body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bloodaxe throws out a loose jab but Hussein uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hussein displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bloodaxe throws out the jab.
Hussein throws a lazy uppercut
and Bloodaxe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hussein thows a left - swing and a miss!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gunnar Bloodaxe dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A punch lands to the side of Bloodaxe 's head but he takes it in his stride.

It looks like Gunnar Bloodaxe has been cut.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Hussein takes a swing at Bloodaxe's ribcage but misses.
It looked like Bloodaxe was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Hussein.
The fighters circling - Bloodaxe throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hussein takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Bloodaxe scores with a nice right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hussein steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bloodaxe.

Hussein forces Bloodaxe back against the cage and clinches.

Hussein is leaning against Bloodaxe and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Hussein doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Hussein lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Bloodaxe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hussein can do to turn this around?
Bloodaxe wants to break the clinch but can't.
Bloodaxe has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Hussein manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Hussein had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bloodaxe defends it easily.
Hussein is controlling Bloodaxe's posture.

Hussein has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bloodaxe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Zabit Hussein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
