The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smithers moves out of range as Raper throws a body kick.
Raper moves away from the strike by Smithers.
Raper tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Smithers is able to avoid easily.
Smithers throws a body punch but Raper moves out of range.
Raper fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A thudding body kick lands there by Raper!
Raper misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Carlton Smithers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Raper throws a shot from downtown. Smithers moves away and avoids it.
Smithers misses with a hook. Raper ducked under it nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Raper on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Raper moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Smithers keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters circling - Raper throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Raper instigates a clinch.
Smithers fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Raper breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smithers throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smithers throws a body shot but no joy.
We've been informed that Smithers has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Smithers works Raper's body with a nice hook.
Smithers connects with a looping right hand.
Smithers just misses with a punch to the body.
Raper looks to throw the jab but Smithers is out of range.
Raper moves forwards but Smithers connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Smithers lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Raper tries to work over Smithers's front leg with a kick but Smithers checks it.

Raper rushes Smithers and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Smithers lands with a right to the head.
A short right from Smithers on the inside.
Raper lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Smithers backwards.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Raper breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Raper is looking to clinch but Smithers is avoiding it.
Smithers misses the shot to the body.
