Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frank Rizzo (ranked 3677 p4p, 3715 weight class) and Andy Slappin (ranked 301 p4p, 307 weight class). The key to victory for Frank Rizzo has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Rizzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Slappin!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slappin takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Slappin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Slappin told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Rizzo pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Rizzo just misses with a elbow thrown towards Slappin's brow.
Slappin lands an elbow just above Rizzo 's eye.
Rizzo avoids the elbow strike from Slappin, against the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Slappin.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

It looks like Andy Slappin has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rizzo is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Slappin is defending well for now.

Rizzo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Rizzo comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Slappin pulls Rizzo into guard.
Slappin is pulling down on Rizzo's head. It's preventing any offense from Rizzo, at least for the moment.
Rizzo wants to control from the top but Slappin keeps moving.

Slappin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rizzo's guard.

Slappin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Rizzo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Slappin on the ground.
It looks like Slappin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Slappin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Rizzo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Slappin is aware though and is defending well.
Slappin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.

Slappin jumps guard but Rizzo stands there with Slappin around his waist. Slappin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Rizzo lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Rizzo tries a body shot but Slappin blocks it.
Rizzo lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Rizzo tries to throw a body punch but Slappin avoids it by throwing Rizzo back against the cage.
Slappin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rizzo lands an uppercut.
Slappin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rizzo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Slappin is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rizzo crunches a lovely knee into Slappin's ribcage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Slappin is pushing Rizzo up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Rizzo pushes Slappin back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Andy Slappin's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Rizzo creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Slappin's defenses.
Slappin is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Rizzo is keeping busy.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Slappin moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Rizzo appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Rizzo lands an elbow inside that Slappin shrugs off.

Rizzo has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Slappin - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Rizzo, and another! Slappin is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!

Our winner, Frank Rizzo, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
