The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grant lands a leg kick that knocks Pinkman off balance momentarily.

Pinkman throws a hook but Grant avoids it easily.

and Pinkman counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Pinkman throws a body punch but Grant moves out of range.
Grant throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Pinkman takes a swing at Grant's ribcage but misses.
Grant moves away from the strike by Pinkman.
Grant takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Grant loads up on a big right hand but Pinkman slips the punch.
Pinkman looks to score with a jab to the body but Grant is just out of range.
Grant throws a right and a left that both miss.
Pinkman throws a hook but Grant blocks it.
Grant lands a nice shot to the body.
Pinkman lands with an overhand left.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Grant.

Aubrey Grant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Grant throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pinkman.
Grant rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Pinkman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Grant won't be happy with that.

Pinkman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Grant has escaped the position, nice work there.
Grant gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Well, if Pinkman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Pinkman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pinkman sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Grant felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
