Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gubba GU (ranked 2124 p4p, 1931 weight class) and Art Bowers (ranked 251 p4p, 230 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
GU shoots in looking for a takedown but Bowers manages to keep the fight standing, pushing GU's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
GU throws a right hand that Bowers ducks under and follows up with a left that Bowers also avoids with ease.
Bowers has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Bowers throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bowers throws a lazy right hand but GU sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bowers avoids the head kick by GU.
GU throws a low kick but Bowers avoids it.
GU changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bowers tries to avoid it but GU manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bowers to the ground. Bowers escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

GU throws a hook but Bowers avoids it easily.
GU dives in and grabs Bowers's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bowers pushes down on GU's head and hops out.

That was a close round but I would say that Gubba GU will probably get the nod.

That's time! GU's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A solid leg kick lands there for GU.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bowers enables GU to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bowers manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as GU accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

GU throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Bowers stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. GU follows into mount!

Gubba GU overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
GU lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Bowers! GU sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Bowers and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

After winning the bout, Gubba GU thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
