Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Johnson (ranked 2012 p4p, 2117 weight class) and Jesse Kruger (ranked 268 p4p, 281 weight class). Marcus Johnson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jesse Kruger!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruger misses with a shot to the body
letting Johnson counter with a right hand.
Johnson throws an off balance right hand

so Kruger counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Johnson pulls Kruger in to control the position.
Kruger scoring with some ground and pound.
Kruger throws a big right hand that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kruger accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kruger on the ground.
Johnson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Johnson wants to stand and escape but Kruger is having none of it.
Johnson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Johnson keeping moving, preventing Kruger from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kruger postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kruger throws an elbow that misses. Johnson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kruger's guard. Nice move by Johnson!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kruger is on top in guard.

Kruger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kruger is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Johnson defends well.

Kruger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kruger has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Kruger's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

A close round but Jesse Kruger will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

And Kruger tries to counter it with a takedown but Johnson pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and Kruger counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Johnson!

Kruger goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Johnson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kruger but great work by Johnson.

Kruger's coach down at Combat Wombat Burrow was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kruger's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kruger walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Marcus Johnson.
I think Johnson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Marcus Johnson spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
