PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lou Slugger (ranked 702 p4p, 1982 weight class) and Hiro Manowaru (ranked 90 p4p, 237 weight class). Slugger kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is For Heavy Metal we will die!. The crowd seem to be enjoying Manowaru's choice of entrance music: Lay Down. On his way into the cage it seems that Lou Slugger has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lou Slugger seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manowaru waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Slugger.
Manowaru has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Slugger moves out of range as Manowaru strikes.
Slugger swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

and Slugger counters with a crisp one two that drops Manowaru! Slugger thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Manowaru to his feet! Manowaru is in big trouble!
Slugger moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Manowaru takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Slugger throws a jab but it's blocked by Manowaru.
Manowaru moves out of range of the body kick.
Slugger lands with a kick to the temple. Manowaru shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Manowaru looks to land a left hand but Slugger moved out of range nicely.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Slugger might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.

Slugger walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Manowaru throws a lazy right hand but Slugger sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Manowaru throws a series of punches but Slugger moves out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Manowaru misses with a hook. Slugger ducked under it nicely.
Manowaru bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Manowaru cracks Slugger with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slugger drops Manowaru with a beautiful combination! Manowaru stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Slugger is looking for the KO!

Slugger swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Manowaru displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Slugger throws out the jab.
Slugger looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Slugger feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Manowaru sprawling to the canvas! Manowaru rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Slugger finish him?!

A close second round but Hiro Manowaru will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Lou Slugger spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
