PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yu Sei Songwong (ranked 2007 p4p, 3241 weight class) and Derrick Ryker (ranked 258 p4p, 373 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Derrick Ryker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derrick Ryker!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryker wants to clinch.
Ryker moves in looking to clinch but Songwong pushes him off.
Songwong tries to counter with a takedown but Ryker is quick to defend against it.

Songwong tries to keep at a distance but Ryker has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ryker gets control of Songwong's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ryker will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Ryker looking for a guillotine here but Songwong defends easily.
Songwong trying to control but Ryker is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Songwong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ryker swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A little feinted left hand from Songwong on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Songwong misses with a low kick.

Ryker rushes Songwong and presses him up against the cage.
Songwong doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Ryker is trying to pull guard but Songwong has him pressed against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
