PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alex Barnes (ranked 1713 p4p, 2204 weight class) and Tree Fortay (ranked 148 p4p, 176 weight class). Fortay is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Choice Is Yours. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fortay paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Fortay bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Fortay throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Barnes on the side of the head.
Fortay missing with a left hand there. Barnes was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Fortay scores with a jab. Barnes acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Fortay connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Barnes momentarily.

Fortay is fighting off a takedown attempt but Barnes is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Fortay to the mat. Fortay regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Our spies down at at Jed's Gym inform us that Fortay has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
