PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jett Robins (ranked 3596 p4p, 4705 weight class) and Ned Chicane (ranked 279 p4p, 332 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ned Chicane was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jett Robins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ned Chicane !
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robins sizes up Chicane with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A big left from Robins misses.
Chicane rushes Robins and presses him up against the cage.
A knee to the head by Chicane .
Robins trying to control the position but instead, Chicane has worked for underhooks and has pushed Robins into the cage.
Chicane keeps control of Robins as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Chicane has a couple of punches blocked by Robins.
Robins drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chicane pulls his leg out and moves away.
Robins definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Chicane closes the distance and pushes Robins back into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robins tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Robins jumps guard but Chicane stands there with Robins around his waist. Robins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Chicane utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Chicane throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Robinss head.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Chicane is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Chicane tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Robins's elbow.
Chicane gets through Robins's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Chicane working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Chicane swings wildly with an uppercut but Robins uses good head movement to avoid it.
Chicane with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Chicane misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Robins.
Chicane lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
It looks like Jett Robins has been cut.
Robins tries to pull guard but Chicane forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jett Robins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chicane lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Robins is rocked!
Chicane controlling the action here for a moment.
Robins is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Chicane is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chicane with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Robins fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Chicane connects with a knee to the head.
Oh Robins is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chicane lands a good knee to the midsection. Robins won't want to take too many of those.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Chicane .
Chicane creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Robins's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Robins drops to his knees and Chicane pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ned Chicane !
