The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lad throws a combination that misses
and Congo counters with a body kick.
Lad gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Congo.
Lad throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lad fails with an attempt to clinch.

Lad lands with an overhand left.

It looks like Roberto Congo has been cut.

Lad cracks Congo with a left hand that drops him to the canvas, up against the ropes! Can Congo get back up in time? 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... he's on one knee... 8, 9... he's up! 'Walk towards me' says the referee. Congo looks steady enough to continue so we're going to continue!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lad takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Lad ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Congo moves away.
Young Lad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lad avoids the head kick by Congo.
Lad takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Congo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lad.
Lad looks to land a combination but Congo avoids it well.
Lad swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Lad lands with a right, followed by a left to the temple and Congo goes down! The ref sends Lad to a neutral corner so he can begin the count. 3,4,5,6 and Congo is back to his feet. He seems a little groggy but the referee thinks he's OK to continue, so we're back to the action!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Congo - that will leave a mark!
Lad lands a really nice looking cross but Congo seems unphased.

Lad fails to land with a series of punches.
Lad takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
We've been informed that Congo has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Congo gets tackled into the ropes by Lad. Lad maintains the clinch.

Congo throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Lad looks to land a left hand but Congo moved out of range nicely.
Lad has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Congo.
Congo throws a good cross that connects.

Lad closes the distance and pushes Congo back into the ropes.
Oh Lad is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lad pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.
Lad seems to have got his legs back now.

Congo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lad throws a right hand that Congo ducks under and follows up with a left that Congo also avoids with ease.
Congo was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Congo lands a nice looking body kick.
Nice jab there from Congo.
Congo catches Lad with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Lad forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
