Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Cordes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Triad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jorge Cordes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Triad!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Triad drives through with a takedown into guard.

Cordes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Triad can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Triad wants to stand but Cordes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Triad trying to control but Cordes is working from the bottom.

Cordes is working an open guard so Triad takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Triad wants to clinch.
Triad doesn't manage to clinch there - Cordes circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Triad wants to clinch.
Triad moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Cordes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Cordes throws a low kick but Triad avoids it.
Cordes tries to clinch up.

Triad scores a takedown into full mount!

Triad wants to finish this one by submission but Cordes is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Triad.
Cordes is in all sorts of trouble here.

Triad avoids the attempt from Cordes to control.
Triad lands a nice shot to the head.
Cordes wants to hold on but Triad pushes him away.
Triad trying to control but Cordes is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cordes tries to reverse the position but Triad maintains control.
Triad working the ground and pound effectively.
Cordes reaches up to try and control the position but Triad seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Cordes rolls and tries to escape and now Triad has his back!

You can see the frustration on Cordes's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Cordes trying to control the action but Triad just sinks the hooks in.
A lull in the action here.

Triad throwing wild punches that miss their target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cordes can't escape the position.
Cordes prevents Triad from getting a body triangle.
Triad is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Cordes tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Cordes is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Cordes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Triad takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Triad lands a slapping body shot.

Triad gets the takedown into side control.
Cordes can't do much from the bottom here.
Cordes is looking to regain half guard here but Triad keeps moving and retains side control.
Triad wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cordes keeps working.
Cordes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Triad wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cordes prevents Triad from moving into mount.
Cordes looks to move to half guard but instead Triad has passed into mount! Damn!

Triad is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cordes can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Triad lands a big elbow.
Triad looking to control but Cordes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cordes has given up his back here.
Triad is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Cordes. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Triad is riding his opponent, not letting Cordes buck him off.
Cordes prevents Triad from getting a body triangle.
Triad controlling the position well here. Cordes rolled but Triad kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Cordes breaks Triad's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Cordes stands up and waves to Triad to follow him.
Cordes misses with a takedown
and Triad counters with a head kick. That will keep Cordes thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Cordes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Triad decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cordes's guard.
Cordes controls Triad momentarily but Triad frees himself.
Johnny Triad has got the better of the ground game so far.
Triad trying to control but Cordes is working from the bottom.
Cordes looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Cordes is trying to control the position but Triad postures up.
Cordes wants to sweep here but Triad controlling him for the moment.

Triad stands up from Cordes's guard - Triad perhaps looking for a knockout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Triad misses with a takedown attempt

and Cordes holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Triad pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Triad shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cordes counters with a single leg into guard. Triad didn't expect that.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Triad working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cordes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cordes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Triad wants to stand but Cordes is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Triad showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Triad tries to clinch

and Cordes counters by moving into the clinch.
Triad jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cordes walks away with a smile on his face. Triad gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Triad shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cordes counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Cordes is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Triad looking for submissions off his back.
Cordes is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Triad!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Triad is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cordes with a couple of short strikes.
Triad is trying to escape the mount.
Cordes lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Triad tries to lock up and control but Cordes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Cordes with shots to the head and body - Triad looks very uncomfortable down there.
Cordes prevents Triad from getting the reversal.
Triad wants to control but Cordes is having none of it.

Cordes working for a guillotine from mount but Triad is in no mood to give up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Triad wants to hold on but Cordes pushes him away.

Cordes has control of Triad's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Triad regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Triad is trying to escape the mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cordes working for a submission but Triad is keeping him at bay.
Triad squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Cordes is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Triad is in real trouble.
Johnny Triad is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Triad is trying to stand back up.
Cordes gets his hands free as Triad looks to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Triad is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Cordes looking for the choke from the back.
Cordes punches the canvas rather than the man.
Jorge Cordes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Triad is taking damage to the body and head.

Cordes patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Triad has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Triad covering up well and avoiding damage.
Even with his hooks in, Cordes manages to miss with strikes from the back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jorge Cordes showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Triad has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
