The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pequeno walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Pequeno tries to close the distance and clinch but Pato swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Pato gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Pato working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pequeno doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pequeno manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pato escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pequeno gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pato really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pequeno. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pequeno has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pato had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pequeno is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Pato Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pequeno's back instead.

Pequeno tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Pequeno is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Pato has his hands clasped together but Pequeno extends an breaks Pato's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Pequeno.
