PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Isaacs (ranked 24699 p4p, 24506 weight class) and Mikey Poundstone (ranked 631 p4p, 662 weight class). Isaacs comes to the cage accompanied by Who Am I - Beenie Man. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Isaacs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mikey Poundstone!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Isaacs plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Isaacs throws a hook but Poundstone blocks it.
Isaacs pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Poundstone takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Isaacs looks for the body kick but Poundstone saw that one coming.
Poundstone throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tony Isaacs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Poundstone looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Poundstone bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Poundstone remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Let's hope that Poundstone has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Poundstone has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Isaacs can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We've been hearing good reports from Isaacs's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Isaacs is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
