Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thorvald Nansen (ranked 2201 p4p, 2818 weight class) and Bryant Smith (ranked 281 p4p, 344 weight class). Nansen comes to the cage accompanied by Benny Jamz - Torden. Smith is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Television - Marquee Moon. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nansen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from Nansen.

We've been hearing reports that Nansen has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Nansen throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Bryant Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nansen.
Smith fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Nansen checks it well.

Smith was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Nansen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smith napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith can't do much from the bottom here.
Smith is not content to let Nansen control the position.
Smith takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Nansen tries to advance to mount but can't.
Smith is looking to reverse the position.
Nansen has knee on belly momentarily but Smith bucks him off and regains half guard.

Nansen thows a huge punch but Smith dodges it nicely.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Smith in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Smith throws a shot from downtown. Nansen moves away and avoids it.
Nansen throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Smith on the side of the head.

Nansen fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Smith.
Nansen moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Nansen.
Nansen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smith throws out the jab.

and Nansen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Smith is rocked!
Nansen dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Smith has had enough and taps out.
