PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Worf Mogh (ranked 515 p4p, 1326 weight class) and Ryu Akutagawa (ranked 35 p4p, 89 weight class). Mogh comes to the cage accompanied by Gimme The Loot. Ryu Akutagawa will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Worf Mogh!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryu Akutagawa!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akutagawa feints a jab promting Mogh to slip. Akutagawa then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mogh slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Mogh shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Akutagawa's guard.

Mogh drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Akutagawa dives on top into guard.

Akutagawa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Akutagawa looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Mogh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Akutagawa's guard.

Akutagawa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mogh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mogh is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Akutagawa will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

It looks like Ryu Akutagawa has been cut.

Mogh stays in close to Akutagawa's body and controls the position.
Mogh sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Akutagawa's guard.
Akutagawa seems to have recovered his senses.

Akutagawa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Akutagawa tries to buck Mogh off but Mogh is having none of it.

Mogh is taking a breather. Akutagawa says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Mogh is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mogh lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Akutagawa quite badly. Akutagawa pulls Mogh in close trying to recover. Mogh postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Akutagawa on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Akutagawa doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Worf Mogh!
