And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Monty McManaman!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McManaman looks for a takedown but Salonen sprawls well.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Salonen.
Salonen throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and McManaman works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Salonen is looking to pass McManaman's guard but actually McManaman recovers to full guard.
Salonen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McManaman on the ground.
Salonen trying to control but McManaman is working from the bottom.
Salonen wants to pass the guard but McManaman is keeping the position.
Salonen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Salonen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Salonen is looking to advance position but McManaman has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

McManaman seems to be working for a kimura but Salonen defends the submission attempt.

Salonen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

McManaman stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Salonen to get to his feet.

McManaman is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Salonen's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Salonen is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and McManaman reverses the position - he's now on top in Salonen's guard.

McManaman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

McManaman looks up at the clock and then as Salonen takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, McManaman smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Salonen tries to buck McManaman off but McManaman is having none of it.

Salonen looking for a sweep but McManaman has passed into full mount! Oh no!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salonen can't escape the position.
McManaman working away from the top, dropping strikes.
McManaman pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Salonen wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
McManaman landing with strikes.

McManaman working for a choke but Salonen is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McManaman controls the action.
Salonen is in bad spot here.
Salonen looking very determined here, making life difficult for McManaman.
Salonen tries to roll but McManaman sticks to his back.
McManaman has Salonen flattened out and is raining down punches.
Salonen wants to get back to his feet.
McManaman has the hooks in. Salonen is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Salonen turns into McManaman and is now in his guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
McManaman misses with a takedown

so Salonen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Monty McManaman dominated that round.
That's time! Salonen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

McManaman is trying to control the position from the bottom.

McManaman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
McManaman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
McManaman looking for a sweep. Not yet McManaman, not yet.
McManaman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Salonen's guard.
Salonen is wriggling around but McManaman manages to pass to half guard.
McManaman works his foot free and advances to mount.

Salonen is trying to escape the mount.
Salonen wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Salonen is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if McManaman gets his way!
Salonen is really stuck here.
McManaman tries to get the hooks in deep but Salonen pushed the leg off.
Salonen is covering up but some of the strikes from McManaman are getting through and doing damage.

McManaman struggling to keep hold of the position.
Monty McManaman has got the better of the ground game so far.

McManaman is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Salonen knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Salonen for a finish.

Salonen is trying to break free.
Salonen is taking damage to the body and head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McManaman working for a choke but Salonen is defending well.
Salonen trying to control but not successfully.

McManaman is working for a rear naked choke. Salonen is not defending it well and McManaman has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Salonen refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Salonen's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
