PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deepen Cider (ranked 2245 p4p, 1889 weight class) and Jesus Sanchez (ranked 335 p4p, 288 weight class). Sanchez has chosen Duele El Carazon as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Deepen Cider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 26 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesus Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sanchez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Cider wants to control but Sanchez postures up.
My spies in Bloody death gym inform me that Sanchez has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Cider prevents Sanchez from moving into mount.
Sanchez controlling the position.
Sanchez trying to control the action but Cider is working from the bottom.

Sanchez wants to control but Cider is keeping him busy.

Sanchez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sanchez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sanchez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cider keeps working.
Sanchez has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Cider!
Sanchez wants to control the pace but Cider is squirming around nicely.
Cider wants to hold on but Sanchez pushes him away.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Sanchez has his takedown stuffed
and Cider counters with a stiff right hand.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cider sprawls well. Cider wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sanchez gets slowly back to his feet.
Cider looks to land a right hand but Sanchez moved out of range.
Cider scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt
and Cider counters with a nice uppercut.
Deepen Cider has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesus Sanchez.
Sanchez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cider tries to avoid it but Sanchez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cider to the ground. Cider escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cider misses with a series of wild punches.
Sanchez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

It looks like Jesus Sanchez has been cut.
Sanchez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cider sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sanchez somewhat.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sanchez.
Cider connects with a single shot there.
Cider lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sanchez backs up against the cage.

Cider is squirming around, avoiding Sanchez's attempts to control the action.

Cider knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground.

Sanchez prevents Cider from getting the reversal.

Sanchez looking to control but Cider is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jesus Sanchez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cider is in all sorts of trouble here.

Sanchez has control of Cider's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cider regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Cider is squirming around, avoiding Sanchez's attempts to control the action.

Sanchez is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sanchez swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cider is now in Sanchez's guard. A big mistake from Sanchez there, giving up the dominant position!

Sanchez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Sanchez wants to control from the top but Cider keeps moving.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Sanchez is looking for a kimura but Cider is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sanchez to get the leverage.
Sanchez wants to take a breather but Cider is having none of it.
Sanchez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jesus Sanchez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sanchez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
