Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zima Voin (ranked 2989 p4p, 3114 weight class) and Stu Redman (ranked 445 p4p, 469 weight class). Redman has chosen Smke a Little Smoke - Eric Church as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Stu Redman acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 19 - 1, fighting out of New York, Zima Voin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stu Redman!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redman shoots in for a takedown but Voin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Voin misses with a looping right.
Voin fails with an attempt to clinch.

Voin has managed to clinch.
Voin scores with a shot to the side of Redman's head.
Voin lands a nice uppercut.
Voin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Voin has hold of one of Redman's legs. Redman is fighting the takedown attempt but Voin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Voin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Redman is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Redman wants to sweep here but Voin controlling him for the moment.
Voin tries to free his leg and advance position but Redman is retaining full guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Voin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Redman trying to keep a closed guard but Voin is proving a slippery customer.
Voin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Voin wants to pass the guard but Redman is keeping the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Voin misses with a straight left.
Voin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Redman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Redman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Voin is on top in guard.

Redman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Voin engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Redman wants to control the position but Voin says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Redman wants to control but Voin passes into side.
Redman is looking to regain half guard here but Voin keeps moving and retains side control.
A lull in the action here as Voin stalls from top position.
Redman is trying to control Voin's posture but Voin avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Redman wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Voin has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Redman's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Redman is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Voin!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Zima Voin!
An out of breath Zima Voin thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
