Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Clint Rivers (ranked 436 p4p, 762 weight class) and Darken Rahl (ranked 67 p4p, 109 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clint Rivers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 1, fighting out of New York, Darken Rahl!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivers rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting Rahl counter with a right hand.
Rahl will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rivers moves out of range as Rahl strikes.
Rivers moves forwards but Rahl connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Nice body punch from Rahl.
Rahl lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Rahl connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Rivers's hands.
Rivers throws a sloppy head kick and Rahl moves out of range easily.
Rahl looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Rahl throws a shot from downtown. Rivers moves away and avoids it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rivers wants to sweep here but Rahl controlling him for the moment.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rivers is on top in guard.

Rahl closes the distance and clinches.
Rivers tries to throw a body punch but Rahl avoids it by throwing Rivers back against the cage.

Rivers escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rahl rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rivers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rahl loads up on a big right hand but Rivers slips the punch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Rivers throws a looping overhand right but Rahl ducks down to avoid it.

Rivers throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Rivers scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Rahl throws a right hand that Rivers ducks under and follows up with a left that Rivers also avoids with ease.
Rahl wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Rahl uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Rivers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rahl accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Rahl throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rivers was covering up waiting for the punch and Rahl finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rivers manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Rahl has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rivers clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rahl has Rivers flattened out and is raining down punches.
Even with his hooks in, Rahl manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Well, with Rahl on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Rivers is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rahl has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

You can see the frustration on Rivers's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Rivers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rahl is working away from the top position though.

Rahl is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rivers doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rahl.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rahl wants to control from the top but Rivers keeps moving.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Darken Rahl comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rahl has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
