Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stasyuk feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Thompson keeping moving, preventing Stasyuk from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thompson has his foot on Stasyuk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stasyuk works his way back into a safe position though.
Thompson pulls Stasyuk in close to prevent any damage.
Stasyuk trying to control the position from guard on top but Thompson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Thompson seems keen to control Stasyuk's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Thompson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Stasyuk's head backwards.

Thompson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stasyuk's guard.

Stasyuk is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Thompson wants to get back to full guard.

Stasyuk is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Thompson sees it coming and defends easily.
Thompson wants to improve his position but Stasyuk is controlling well.
Thompson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Thompson tries to get out of the position.

Stasyuk is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Stasyuk seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thompson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
