PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurty Barov (ranked 25500 p4p, 25515 weight class) and Traicho Traev (ranked 597 p4p, 610 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Kurty Barov has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Kurty Barov seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Traev misses with a wild combination.
Barov feinted with a counter takedown.
Traev defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Barov.

Traev gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Barov wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Traev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Barov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Traev closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Barov did well to prevent Traev getting side control.

Traev wants to work for an arm triangle but Barov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Well, if Traev is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Barov tries to roll over but Traev keeps him under control.
Traev looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Barov pushes Traev off looking to stand but Traev dives back in and keeps control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Barov is looking to regain half guard here but Traev keeps moving and retains side control.
Traev content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Traev works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Traev controls the position.
Barov tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Traev presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Traev cracks Barov with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Traev is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Barov can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Barov regains half guard.
Barov wants to control but Traev is keeping busy.
Traev landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Traev prevents Barov from standing back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barov tries to get to full guard but Traev has control of the leg.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Traev lands a nice short elbow.

Traev throws a head kick but Barov moves out of range.
It looked like Barov was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Barov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Traev to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Barov has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Traev off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Traev fails to land the takedown.
Barov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Traev manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Traev dives in for a single leg takedown but Barov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Barov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Traev as he jumps to the side.
Barov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Traev counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Traev decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Barov dodges the punch combination from Traev.
Barov blocks a head kick by Traev.

Traev decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Traicho Traev has got the better of the ground game so far.

Traev is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Barov has managed to free his arm - good work.
Barov is looking to control Traev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Barov avoid being mounted?
Traev is controlling the pace.

Traev is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Barov as he works his way to full guard.

Barov is trying to control the position but Traev postures up.

Traev scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Barov to see if he's OK.

Traev looking for a guillotine from mount but Barov is having none of it.
Barov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Traev scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Traev has hold of Barov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Barov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Traicho Traev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Barov falls off balance throwing a combination
and Traev counters with a three punch combo that has Barov backing up. Barov nods at Traev to acknowledge the strikes.
Traev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Barov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Traev somewhat.

Traev prevents Barov from breaking the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Traev manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Barov won't allow Traev to sweep him here.

Traev has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Barov doesn't defend quickly enough and Traev has managed to lock this one up! Can Barov escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Traev on a fantastic submission victory.
