Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Ragout Mendy (ranked 3424 p4p, 2671 weight class) and Don Barnes (ranked 432 p4p, 346 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Ragout Mendy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendy throws a head kick that misses.
Barnes throws a head kick but Mendy moves out of range.
Barnes slips under a jab.
A slapping body kick lands there for Barnes.
A low kick lands for Barnes.
Mendy takes one on the button.
Mendy swings for the body but Barnes moves out of range.
Barnes scores with a nice body kick.
Barnes works the jab nicely.
Barnes throws a nice inside leg kick.
Barnes lands a front kick.
A nice leg kick from Barnes, right into the meat of the thigh.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Barnes lands a nice hook to Mendy's body. Mendy takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Barnes buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Barnes scores with a jab to the jaw.
Mendy takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Mendy looks to throw the jab but Barnes is out of range.
Barnes has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A slapping body kick lands there for Barnes.
Barnes lands a two punch combo.
Mendy drops his hands momentarily and Barnes takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Mendy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Barnes is looking for the big counter here.
Barnes feints and then cracks Mendy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mendy down.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barnes has momentary wrist control but Mendy slips an elbow through the middle.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mendy throws a poor cross that misses

and Barnes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mendy's guard.
Mendy is pulling down on Barnes's head. It's preventing any offense from Barnes, at least for the moment.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Mendy darts in looking for a takedown but Barnes gets double underhooks and turns Mendy into the cage.

Mendy drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Barnes gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pierre Ragout Mendy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Barnes has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mendy after a bit of a struggle.
Mendy has Barnes pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Barnes manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Barnes gets through Mendy's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Mendy drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Barnes gets the underhooks and prevents it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barnes connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Mendy moves forwards but Barnes connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mendy swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Barnes lands a lovely overhand right.

Mendy is rocked!
Mendy takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Oh Mendy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mendy tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Mendy gets caught flat footed, as Barnes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Barnes with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Pierre Ragout Mendy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Barnes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mendy's head.
Barnes passes Mendy's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Mendy kicks Barnes off and gets back to his feet.
Barnes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mendy.

Barnes shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mendy manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Barnes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mendy's head.
Barnes wants to control from the top but Mendy keeps moving.
Mendy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Barnes scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Mendy is trying to keep Barnes in close.

Mendy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Barnes's guard.

Barnes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mendy is trying to control but can't.
Mendy slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Mendy pulls Barnes in close to his closed guard and prevents Barnes from doing any damage or advancing position.

Don Barnes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Barnes uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mendy has time to react.
Pierre Ragout Mendy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barnes ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mendy crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Barnes - the referee stops the clock and Mendy gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Barnes. Mendy manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Don Barnes seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Barnes misses with a takedown attempt - Mendy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mendy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Barnes is working Mendy over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Mendy postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Barnes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mendy, into his guard.

Mendy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Barnes lands a couple of elbows.

Mendy has his feet on Barnes's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mendy is defended easily by Barnes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Barnes throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Pierre Ragout Mendy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mendy throws a shot from downtown. Barnes moves away and avoids it.
Barnes avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Barnes feints the counter takedown.
Barnes thuds his shin into the meat of Mendy's side.
Mendy takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Mendy misses the shot to the body.
And Barnes tries to counter it with a takedown but Mendy pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Mendy misses with an uppercut. Barnes saw that one coming.
Mendy misses with a straight left.
Barnes slips a jab from Mendy.
Barnes looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Barnes thuds a left hand into Mendy's body.
Barnes stuffs the takedown attempt from Mendy. Mendy gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mendy doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Mendy has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Barnes.
Barnes connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Mendy swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Barnes lands with a nice body punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Barnes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Barnes throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Mendy parries the strikes from Barnes easily there. Barnes is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mendy to escape.
Mendy is looking for a sweep.
Barnes cracks Mendy with a big right hand but Mendy just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Mendy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barnes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
An elbow from Barnes crashes against the mat.
Barnes lands a few punches from side control.
Pierre Ragout Mendy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mendy is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Barnes off and has taken his back!

And that's the end of the fight!
Don Barnes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Barnes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Don Barnes decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
