PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chimzat Khamaev (ranked 3172 p4p, 2631 weight class) and Jean Michel Plutarque (ranked 398 p4p, 342 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Khamaev might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Theme Song. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Michel Plutarque!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Khamaev closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Khamaev creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Khamaev tries to score with some ground and pound. Plutarque controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khamaev looks up at the clock and then as Plutarque takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Khamaev smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Khamaev creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Plutarque sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Khamaev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Plutarque with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

We've been hearing good reports from Khamaev's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Khamaev is nestled in close to Plutarque, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Khamaev lands a big elbow - Plutarque is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Khamaev!
