Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rod Legend (ranked 4318 p4p, 4095 weight class) and Quagmire Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quagmire Griffin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rod Legend!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Quagmire Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Griffin lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Legend manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

and Griffin counters with a single leg into guard. Legend didn't expect that.

Griffin trying to control but Legend is working from the bottom.
Legend pulls Griffin in close to prevent any damage.
Legend is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Griffin is looking for a sweep. Legend is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Legend perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Legend looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Griffin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Griffin is not content to let Legend control the position.
Legend landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Griffin wants to improve his position but Legend is controlling well.
Legend lands strikes from half guard.
Legend perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Griffin is squirming around, avoiding Legend's attempts to control the action.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Legend pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Griffin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Griffin connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Legend tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Legend paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Legend ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Griffin moves away.
Griffin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Legend swivels and escapes.

Griffin tries to pull guard but Legend won't allow it.

Griffin is trying to maintain a safe position but Legend gets an underhook and turns Griffin into the cage.
Griffin is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Rod Legend has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quagmire Griffin.

Legend using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Griffin has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Griffin has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Griffin is trying to maintain a safe position but Legend gets an underhook and turns Griffin into the cage.
Griffin wants to break free but Legend has control.

Legend's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Legend shoots for a double leg takedown but Griffin sprawls well. He's pushed Legend's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rod Legend is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Legend is looking to wear down Griffin with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Legend fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Griffin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Griffin takes a kick to the side of the head.
Legend is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Griffin can do to turn this around?

Legend escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Legend throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Legend throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick misses from Legend.
Legend throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Legend fails with the takedown.
Legend tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Legend throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Griffin.
Griffin shoots in and drives through. Legend sprawls well.

Griffin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Legend is fending him off so far but Griffin persists. Nope, Legend circles away and we're back to standing.
Griffin shoots in but Legend avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Legend throws a head kick that misses.
Griffin avoids the head kick by Legend.
Legend lands with a kick to the temple. Griffin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Griffin misses with a takedown attempt - Legend sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rod Legend showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Legend, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
