The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonnell with a poor takedown
and Jackson counters with a low kick, right behind McDonnell 's knee.
McDonnell wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance.
Jackson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
McDonnell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jackson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Caleb McDonnell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McDonnell shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
McDonnell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily.
Jimmy Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Caleb McDonnell.

and Jackson counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends McDonnell down! Jackson is looking to finish but McDonnell is intelligently defending himself.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Jackson connects with a body shot that sends McDonnell's belly button to the back.
McDonnell looks winded!

Jackson waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract McDonnell. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped McDonnell to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

McDonnell is rocked!

It looks like Caleb McDonnell has been cut.

Jackson gets to his feet - McDonnell follows without any prompting.
McDonnell is still on wobbly legs! Can Jackson finish him?

Jackson closes the distance and pushes McDonnell back into the cage.
McDonnell seems to have recovered his senses.
McDonnell should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Jackson can't break the clinch.
Jackson tries to circle away but McDonnell has him pinned against the cage.
Jackson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McDonnell has him pressed against the cage.
Jackson is trying to force a seperation but McDonnell has the dominant position.
Jackson is trying to break the clinch but McDonnell is controlling him.
McDonnell tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jackson smiles and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McDonnell attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Jackson drops McDonnell with a left right combo! Jackson follows him down to the ground into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jackson decides to stand back up. Jackson steps back and let's McDonnell get back to his feet.
McDonnell backs away from a small jab... but Jackson lunges forward with a huge superman punch! McDonnell crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Jackson with a spectacular finish!
