PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Kenny (ranked 4405 p4p, 4256 weight class) and Tristan Holmes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ken Kenny !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenny throws a right hand that Holmes ducks under and follows up with a left that Holmes also avoids with ease.
Kenny takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kenny dives in for a single leg takedown but Holmes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Holmes lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Holmes lands a nice elbow.
Kenny takes an elbow to the temple.

It looks like Ken Kenny has been cut.
Holmes lands a left hand.

Kenny is rocked!
Holmes goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Holmes lands an elbow just above Kenny 's eye.
Oh Kenny is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A left hand lands to the body for Holmes.
Kenny seems to have got his legs back now.
Kenny is working for takedown but Holmes is calmly controlling the position for now.

Holmes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kenny tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Holmes defends well and Kenny ends up having to push Holmes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Kenny . That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Holmes comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Holmes misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Holmes.

Holmes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Holmes connects with a looping right hand.
Holmes stuffs the takedown attempt from Kenny . Kenny gets slowly back to his feet.
Holmes throws a series of punches but Kenny moves out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Holmes. Those never looked like landing.
Holmes slaps away a takedown attempt from Kenny , before circling back to the center of the mat.
Holmes looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kenny is breathing heavily.
Holmes throws a body shot but no joy.

Holmes has managed to clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Holmes lands an elbow that stopped Kenny in his tracks for a moment.
Holmes lands a nice elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kenny takes an elbow to the forehead.
Holmes lands a nice uppercut.
Holmes lands a left hand that snaps the head of Kenny backwards.

Holmes lands a vicious elbow to the side of Kenny 's head that scrambles his senses and sends him wobbling down to the canvas! Holmes tries to finish him with strikes but Kenny still seems able to defend himself so Holmes steps back and lets Kenny get back to his feet - he wants no part of the ground game.
Kenny misses with a takedown attempt - Holmes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kenny gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Holmes gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Kenny is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tristan Holmes!
In his post fight interview, Tristan Holmes started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
