Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stoned Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, William Stubbs!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Darius Henderson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stubbs works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Stubbs sends Nelson crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Stubbs is motioning to the referee to let Nelson up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Nelson is rocked!

It looks like Stoned Nelson has been cut.
Stubbs throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Stubbs misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nelson.
Nelson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Stubbs.
Stubbs throws a body punch but Nelson moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stubbs misses with the combination.

Nelson drives through with a takedown into Stubbs's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Stubbs wants to get back to his feet but Nelson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Nelson pushing down on Stubbs's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Nelson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Stubbs looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Nelson passes the guard and advances to mount!

Nelson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Nelson looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Stubbs wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Stubbs stops Nelson from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Stubbs bucks up and throws Nelson to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Stubbs connects with a single shot there.
Stubbs tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nelson was well out of range. Poor timing from Stubbs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Nelson, as that shot connected.
Stubbs misses with a right hand

and Nelson counters with a single leg into guard. Stubbs didn't expect that.
Nelson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Stubbs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nelson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nelson trying to control but Stubbs is working from the bottom.
Nelson looking to sit in guard and control but Stubbs gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Nelson has a closed guard, preventing Stubbs from standing up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Nelson has his foot on Stubbs's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stubbs works his way back into a safe position though.
Stubbs must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nelson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Stubbs has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nelson is proving hard to escape from.

Nelson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stubbs doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Nelson is tightening it up a little... Stubbs has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Stubbs reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Stubbs taps out! Nice BJJ there by Nelson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Stoned Nelson!
