PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Toa Mudo (ranked 23272 p4p, 3980 weight class) and Larry Lee (ranked 260 p4p, 175 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Toa Mudo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Larry Lee!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mudo tries a head kick but it misses.
Lee looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mudo's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lee under the eye.
No joy there for Lee, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice shot lands for Mudo.

It looks like Larry Lee has been cut.
Lee takes one on the chin but seems OK.
A big left from Lee misses.
Decent striking displayed by Mudo there.
Lee uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mudo.
Lee slips a jab from Mudo.
Mudo sets himself, and Lee steps forward looking for the clinch! Mudo avoids it this time.
A left lands for Lee.
Mudo is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Sloppy strikes from Lee. Those never looked like landing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lee takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Mudo lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Lee misses with a wild combination.
Lee throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mudo throws a poor cross that misses

and Lee counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Mudo fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Mudo swings wildly with an uppercut but Lee uses good head movement to avoid it.

Lee takes an elbow to the temple.
Lee softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes.
Lee can't find room to land a body shot as Mudo controls the action.
Lee blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Lee with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Lee makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lee creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

That has opened up Larry Lee's cut even more.
Mudo tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Lee avoids it.

Mudo lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

The fighters are pressed against the ropes, as the pace of the fight slows.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The crowd are getting on Lee's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Mudo.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Toa Mudo will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Larry Lee's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Mudo sizes up Lee with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Lee checks the leg kick.
Mudo tests Lee's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Lee keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mudo.
It looks like Mudo has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Mudo stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Mudo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Toa Mudo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee throws a push kick but Mudo slaps the foot to one side.
Lee throws a right hand that Mudo ducks under and follows up with a left that Mudo also avoids with ease.
Mudo misses with a hook.
Mudo looks to throw the jab but Lee is out of range.
Mudo avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Mudo throwing a counter right hand but Lee manages to avoid it.
Mudo throws a solid leg kick but Lee takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Mudo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mudo uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lee.
Mudo throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lee on the side of the head.
Lee misses with a wild combination.
Lee takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mudo. Mudo obviously looking to wear him down.
Mudo misses with an uppercut.
Mudo uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Lee walks into a stiff left hand from Mudo.
Mudo tries a head kick but it misses.
Mudo lands with a cross.

Lee is rocked!
Mudo circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Lee tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Mudo wins by KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Toa Mudo!
After winning the bout, Toa Mudo thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
