PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Liber Lambart (ranked 767 p4p, 1772 weight class) and Soren Hansen (ranked 116 p4p, 245 weight class). Hansen comes into a darkened arena with his song building. If I had a heart kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Soren Hansen!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Lambart misses

and Hansen counters with a shoot takedown. Lambart fights it but they end up in guard.

Lambart has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Hansen has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Hansen doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Lambart lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Lambart's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lambart swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hansen tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Hansen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lambart throws a hook but Hansen avoids it easily.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Hansen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Hansen is looking to take a break and control but Lambart is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hansen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lambart avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Hansen.
Lambart manages to get back to half guard.

Hansen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hansen is just content to waste time from the top position. Lambart takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Hansen prevents Lambart from getting back to his feet.
Hansen content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hansen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lambart swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hansen is looking to pass into half guard but Lambart pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Lambart is in guard.

Hansen wants to sweep but no luck.

Lambart thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hansen's head.

Hansen is looking for a sweep. Lambart is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lambart is thwarting Hansen's attempts to control the position.
Lambart stalling.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hansen is looking to improve his position.
Lambart is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hansen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lambart is working away from the top position though.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lambart is looking to get back to his feet here but Hansen is keeping cool and he's managed to take Lambart's back.
Liber Lambart overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hansen somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Lambart is trying to get back to his feet but Hansen has full control of the position and if anything, Lambart has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Lambart is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hansen is persistently looking for the submission but Lambart is defending it well.

Lambart is trying to defend against the choke here but Hansen has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Hansen Tightens the hold and Lambart taps out furiously! Hansen displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
