Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Granite (ranked 146 p4p, 89 weight class) and Mauro Okongwu (ranked 23 p4p, 7 weight class). Granite comes into the arena with Jungle blaring out of the sound system. Okongwu has chosen Show Stop - REASON as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Granite !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mauro Okongwu!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ben Watson and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Granite throws the left hand but Okongwu avoids the punch easily.
Sloppy strikes from Okongwu. Those never looked like landing.
Granite has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Slaughterhouze in the buildup to the fight.
Okongwu looks to throw the jab but Granite is out of range.
Granite takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

It looks like Jimmy Granite has been cut.
Okongwu thows a body kick. Granite tries to catch it but that hurt him.
A looping hook to the body misses from Okongwu. Granite does a little dance to reset his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Okongwu sends Granite crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Okongwu is motioning to the referee to let Granite up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Granite uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Okongwu.
Okongwu has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Granite finds it's way round the side to connect with Okongwu's head.

It looks like Mauro Okongwu has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Okongwu avoids the body shot from Granite .
Okongwu looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Granite with a nice cross.

Okongwu closes the distance and clinches.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Granite .
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Okongwu.
Okongwu lands a right hand.
Okongwu's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Granite lands with a short head shot on the inside.

That has opened up Mauro Okongwu's cut even more.
Okongwu tries to throw a body punch but Granite avoids it by throwing Okongwu back against the cage.
Okongwu doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Okongwu misses with a hook to the ribs.
Granite struggles to land a body shot inside as Okongwu controls his hands.
Granite doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A nice left hand lands by Okongwu.
Granite working aggressively here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Granite breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Okongwu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Granite moves away.
Okongwu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Okongwu circles away from the clinch attempt
and Granite takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Jimmy Granite 's cut is getting worse.
Granite blocks the body kick.
Granite thinks about countering with a head kick.
Okongwu lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Okongwu pounces like a tiger and cracks Granite with a vicious hook! Granite is down but not out! Okongwu follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mauro Okongwu!
A very excited looking Mauro Okongwu made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
