Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Walad Anubis (ranked 1517 p4p, 1273 weight class) and Nori Voluspa (ranked 202 p4p, 164 weight class). Anubis's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Hideaway. Walad Anubis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walad Anubis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nori Voluspa!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voluspa misses with a takedown
and Anubis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Anubis cracks Voluspa with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Anubis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Voluspa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Voluspa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Anubis did well to prevent Voluspa getting side control.

Voluspa is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Voluspa is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Voluspa thows a huge punch but Anubis dodges it nicely.

Anubis has his hands clasped together around Voluspa's back. He's all about the action.
Voluspa throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Voluspa is just content to waste time from the top position. Anubis takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Voluspa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Voluspa makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Voluspa throws a strike but Anubis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Voluspa seems keen to control Anubis's posture.
Voluspa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Voluspa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Anubis is one step ahead there.

Anubis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Voluspa on the ground.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Anubis throws a right and a left that Voluspa avoids nicely.
Voluspa tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Anubis connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Anubis thumps Voluspa with a low kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Voluspa is defended easily by Anubis.
As Voluspa looks to move away, Anubis throws a big counter combo but Voluspa just gets out of the way.
Walad Anubis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nori Voluspa.
Anubis lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Voluspa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Anubis but Anubis pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Voluspa shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Anubis is trying to defend but Voluspa finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Anubis is trying to maintain the position but Voluspa is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Voluspa connects with a nice short shot to Anubis's temple.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Walad Anubis will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Anubis bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Voluspa's head.
Voluspa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Anubis as he jumps to the side.
Anubis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Voluspa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Anubis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Voluspa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Anubis but Anubis pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A little feinted left hand from Anubis on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Walad Anubis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nori Voluspa.
Voluspa shoots for a takedown but Anubis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Anubis was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Anubis lands a big head kick that sends Voluspa tumbling to the mat! Anubis takes a step backwards and waves Voluspa back to his feet - he wants the finish!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Anubis throws a low kick, looking for Voluspa's leg but Voluspa calmly moves out of range.
Walad Anubis is winning the standup battle so far.
Anubis looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Nori Voluspa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Voluspa takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Voluspa takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Voluspa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Anubis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nori Voluspa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice takedown defense from Anubis. No joy for Voluspa on that attempt.
Voluspa goes for a double leg but Anubis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Anubis continues to drive forward.
Anubis is looking to counter punch.

Voluspa shoots in for a takedown but Anubis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Voluspa on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Whack! Anubis lands a heavy head kick that drops Voluspa. The ref tackles Anubis to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Voluspa was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Walad Anubis!
A relieved looking Walad Anubis thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
