Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ispa Perkele (ranked 155 p4p, 224 weight class) and Curtis Rome (ranked 22 p4p, 33 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Ispa Perkele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curtis Rome!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rome misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Perkele to counter with a crisp jab.
Perkele circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rome has a takedown stuffed.
A little feinted left hand from Perkele on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Rome fails with an attempt to clinch.
It looked like Perkele wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Rome shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Perkele as he jumps to the side.
Ispa Perkele has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Curtis Rome.
Rome shoots in for a double leg but Perkele sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Perkele stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Perkele wants it to stay on the feet.

and Perkele counters with a thumping low kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rome takes the fight into the clinch.
Perkele has Rome pressed against the cage.

Perkele's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Perkele cracks a nice hook into Rome's ribs.

Rome will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Perkele appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Rome tries to close the distance and clinch up but Perkele swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rome rushes Perkele and presses him up against the cage.

Perkele lands a shoulder strike.
Rome has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Perkele is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Perkele misses with the head strike.

Perkele breaks from the clinch.

Perkele tries to sprawl but Rome drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Perkele controlling the position well.
Perkele gets back to full guard.

Rome tries to free his leg and advance position but Perkele is retaining full guard.
Rome preventing the sweep.
Perkele is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rome is trying to get back to full guard.

Perkele stalling.
Rome is positioning himself well to prevent Perkele advancing to mount.
Rome wants to control but Perkele is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rome is pressing down on Perkele's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Rome working for a triangle but Perkele defends it easily.
Perkele is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Rome has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Rome fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Perkele, pushing him back against the cage.

Rome successfully pulls guard.
Perkele controlling from the top position.
Rome is trying to keep Perkele in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rome looking to hit a scissor sweep but Perkele is one step ahead there.

Rome looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Perkele puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Perkele keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Perkele continues to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
We've been told by Perkele's head coaches at Räkälä that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rome moves out of range of the strikes.
Ispa Perkele is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Rome looking to score a takedown here. Perkele is defending well but Rome drives through and ends up in Perkele's guard.
Perkele keeping moving, preventing Rome from controlling successfully.
Rome trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rome wants to control from the top but Perkele keeps moving.

Rome wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Perkele, who protects the arm well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rome goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Perkele rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Rome's guard! Nice work there by Perkele!

Curtis Rome showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Perkele uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rome has time to react.

Perkele was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Rome tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Perkele paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Perkele misses with an uppercut. Rome saw that one coming.
Perkele stuffs the takedown attempt from Rome. Rome gets slowly back to his feet.
Perkele swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Perkele enables Rome to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Perkele manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Perkele wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rome manages to pass to side control.


Rome looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Perkele is holding on to half guard well.

Rome tries to pass to full mount but Perkele defends it.
Rome is trying to control. Perkele wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Rome wants to work for an arm triangle but Perkele is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Perkele trying to hold on to Rome's head to control him but Rome postures up.
Rome frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rome can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Perkele is looking to escape.
Perkele is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rome can do to turn this around?

Perkele is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Rome moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Perkele has worked his arm free - good work by Perkele!

Rome tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rome has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Perkele regains half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rome is trying to work for a kimura but Perkele is defending well.
Rome passes the guard and advances to mount!
Perkele wants to control but Rome is having none of it.
Rome wants to control the action but instead Perkele gets a body lock and reverses into Rome's guard! Nice work!
