PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Cortez (ranked 994 p4p, 873 weight class) and Peter Beardsley (ranked 56 p4p, 51 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Don Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Beardsley!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Beardsley looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Beardsley.

Cortez cracks Beardsley with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Cortez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The referee warns Beardsley that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Beardsley tries to lock up and control but Cortez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Don Cortez showed his dominance in that final round.

Don Cortez decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
