PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gum Guerreiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gum Guerreiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Killer!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guerreiro closes the distance and clinches.
Guerreiro is stalling here.
Killer connects with a nasty looking knee right to Guerreiro's face.


It looks like Gum Guerreiro has been cut.

Guerreiro has hold of one of Killer's legs. Killer is fighting the takedown attempt but Guerreiro gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Guerreiro drops back looking for a leg! Killer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Killer manages to kick Guerreiro off! Guerreiro jumps back into Killer's guard.

Killer is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Guerreiro is trying to trip Killer. He has hold of a leg but Killer is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Guerreiro persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Guerreiro seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Killer wants to stand but Guerreiro is controlling the position.

Guerreiro is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Killer scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Guerreiro scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Killer clinches but Guerreiro breaks the clinch
and Guerreiro counters with a one-two to the body.
Guerreiro circles away from the clinch attempt

and Guerreiro counters with a single leg into guard. Killer didn't expect that.
Killer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Killer looks gassed!

Killer pushes Guerreiro off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Killer tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Guerreiro counters with a takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here as Guerreiro stalls from top position.

Guerreiro is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Killer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Killer tries to escape but Guerreiro is in control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Guerreiro decides to stand back up. Guerreiro steps back and let's Killer get back to his feet.

Guerreiro bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here.

Guerreiro working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Killer is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Guerreiro controls the position.
Guerreiro is putting a hurting on Killer here, landing some big shots from side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Guerreiro decides to stand up, so the ref orders Killer to his feet.

Guerreiro scores a takedown into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Killer tries to clinch
and Guerreiro counters with a low kick, right behind Killer 's knee.
Anderson Killer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Guerreiro scores with a takedown into Killer's guard.

Guerreiro drops back looking for a leg! Killer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Killer manages to kick Guerreiro off! Guerreiro jumps back into Killer's guard.
Guerreiro stops Killer from standing up.
Guerreiro has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Killer is proving hard to escape from.

Guerreiro gets to his feet. Killer looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Killer wants to clinch

and Guerreiro counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Killer's guard now.
Guerreiro is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Guerreiro won't allow Killer to get back to his feet.
Gum Guerreiro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Killer is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Guerreiro controls from within his opponent's guard.
Guerreiro seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Killer for as long as he can get away with.
Guerreiro won't allow Killer to get back to his feet.

Guerreiro looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Killer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Guerreiro is controlling him.
Guerreiro stays in close to Killer's body and controls the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Guerreiro thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Guerreiro wants to pass the guard but Killer is keeping the position.
Guerreiro has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Guerreiro lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Killer wants to stand up but Guerreiro is controlling him.
Guerreiro's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


A decent looking body kick lands there for Guerreiro.
Killer goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Killer misses with a kick to the body

and Guerreiro counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Killer!
Killer wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Guerreiro takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Killer taking shots to the head.

Guerreiro is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Killer has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Killer is trying to stand up.

A nice elbow there by Guerreiro.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Guerreiro takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Killer tries to buck Guerreiro off but he can't manage it.

Guerreiro has hold of Killer's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Killer manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Guerreiro breaks from Killer's wrist control and lands an elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Killer is trying to stand but he's just given Guerreiro his back.
Killer is trying to get back to his feet but Guerreiro has full control of the position and if anything, Killer has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Guerreiro is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Killer holding both Guerreiro 's hands and preventing any damage.

Guerreiro controls the position.

Guerreiro is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Killer is defending well though. Guerreiro let's go of the attempt for now.
Killer is trying to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
I would not like to be Killer right now.
Guerreiro throwing damaging strikes from the back! Killer could be in trouble here!

And that's the end of the fight!
Gum Guerreiro showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Guerreiro, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
