PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Solid Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunt kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Throw the Heat - Crips Have Blood Too. The key to victory for Jack Hunt has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Solid Snake!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Roberts and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Snake throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Hunt dodges the punch combination from Snake.
Hunt lands with a right hand.
Hunt misses with the combination.
Snake shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hunt as he avoids it easily.

Snake decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hunt gets back to full guard.
Snake postures up in Hunt's guard and throws a big left but Hunt blocks it.
Hunt pulls Snake in close to his closed guard and prevents Snake from doing any damage or advancing position.
Snake lands a couple of digs.
Hunt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunt looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Snake puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Hunt is trying to get back to full guard.
Snake thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hunt's head.
Snake seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hunt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hunt looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Snake is trying to control the action in half guard but Hunt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Snake should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Snake shoots in for a takedown but Hunt shows good takedown defense.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Snake throws a leg kick but Hunt checks it.
Left hook, right uppercut from Hunt.

Snake closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hunt did well to prevent Snake getting side control.
Snake throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Snake trying to mount his opponent but Hunt defends it.
Snake thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hunt to regain full guard.
Snake trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Snake trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Hunt manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Hunt won't allow Snake to sweep him here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Snake lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hunt!
Snake throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Snake pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Hunt tries to reverse the position but Snake maintains control.

Snake looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Snake has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hunt tries to lock up and control but Snake gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Snake throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Snake is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hunt has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hunt!

Snake looks gassed!
Hunt stays in close to Snake's body and controls the position.
Snake not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hunt trying to control the position from guard on top but Snake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jack Hunt will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Snake swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Snake shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hunt but Hunt pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hunt fails to land with a series of punches.
Snake has a takedown stuffed.
Left hook, right uppercut from Hunt.
Hunt closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Snake! Hunt dives in looking to finish! Snake is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Hunt!
