Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between White Rain (ranked 303 p4p, 213 weight class) and Apophis Kalmisto (ranked 53 p4p, 35 weight class). Rain kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is For Heavy Metal we will die!. The crowd seem to be enjoying Kalmisto's choice of entrance music: Tässäkö tää oli. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, White Rain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Apophis Kalmisto!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalmisto closes the distance but Rain moves to the side
and Rain counters with a straight right hand.
Kalmisto cracks Rain with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Rain clinches.
Still in the clinch, Kalmisto scores with a nice short uppercut.
Rain is trying to pull guard but Kalmisto turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Rain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kalmisto blocks a head kick by Rain.

Rain closes the distance and clinches.
Kalmisto tries to pull guard but Rain forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Kalmisto swings wildly with an uppercut but Rain uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kalmisto jumps into guard, dragging Rain to the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rain trying to control but Kalmisto is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kalmisto controls Rain momentarily but Rain frees himself.
Rain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kalmisto swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rain trying to control but Kalmisto is working from the bottom.

Kalmisto pulls Rain in close to prevent any damage.
Kalmisto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kalmisto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rain is working hard here to advance position.

Rain is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kalmisto is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kalmisto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kalmisto looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rain being controlled here momentarily.

Kalmisto looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Rain passes into side control.

Kalmisto tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rain wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kalmisto is not content to let Rain control the position.
Kalmisto prevents Rain from moving into mount.

Rain looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Rain is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kalmisto will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Rain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kalmisto is looking for a sweep.

Rain is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kalmisto is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kalmisto gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Rain seems to be working for a kimura but Kalmisto defends the submission attempt.
Rain is trying to control the action in half guard but Kalmisto is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kalmisto is looking to improve his position.
Kalmisto has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Nice straight punches there by Rain. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Rain.
Kalmisto pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Rain tried to counter with a leg kick but Kalmisto avoided it.
Rain connects with a looping right hand.
Kalmisto throws a sloppy head kick
and Rain counters with an outside leg kick.
Kalmisto will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Rain was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Rain throws a head kick but Kalmisto moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Kalmisto on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Kalmisto shoots in and gets a takedown into Rain's guard.

Apophis Kalmisto has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rain has his foot on Kalmisto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kalmisto works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rain wants to control but Kalmisto is keeping busy and won't allow it.
