The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Pettinger counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Richards is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pettinger sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Pettinger darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

It looks like Hart Richards has been cut.
Richards shoots in for a takedown but Pettinger shows good takedown defense.
A quick step to the side and Pettinger tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gord Pettinger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hart Richards.

and Pettinger counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Richards takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Richards takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pettinger fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Richards on the side of the head.
Pettinger really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pettinger fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Pettinger waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Richards. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Richards to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Pettinger gets to his feet - Richards follows without any prompting.
BOOM! Pettinger lands a beautiful left hook that drops Richards. Richards tries to recover but Pettinger is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Richards lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
