Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hanzel Spetz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spetz shoots in for a double leg but Kossu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Spetz fails with the takedown.
Spetz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Spetz takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Spetz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kossu swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kossu throws a sloppy head kick and Spetz moves out of range easily.
Spetz shoots in for a double leg but Kossu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kossu cracks Spetz with a right hand to the side of the head.

Spetz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kossu swivels and escapes.
Kossu throws a series of punches but Spetz avoids them all with ease.
Spetz gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Kossu counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Spetz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kossu circles away.
Spetz throws a head kick that misses.
Spetz is breathing heavily.
Kossu scores with a crisp jab that stopped Spetz in his tracks.
Kossu shoots for a takedown but Spetz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Spetz misses with an uppercut. Kossu saw that one coming.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Spetz tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kossu counters with a stiff right hand.
Spetz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kossu circles away from the clinch attempt
and Kossu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Spetz avoids the head kick by Kossu.
Spetz tries to clinch up
and Kossu counters with a body kick.

Spetz clinches but Kossu breaks the clinch
and Kossu cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kossu fails with a takedown attempt.
A slapping body kick lands there for Kossu.
Spetz tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kossu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kossu throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Spetz.
Spetz has a takedown stuffed.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Spetz.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Spetz misses with a double jab
and Kossu counters with a nice kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Kossu dominated that round.

Spetz throws a sloppy head kick and Kossu moves out of range easily.
Spetz tries for a takedown but Kossu circles away easily
and Kossu counters with a solid body kick.
Kossu throws a nice head kick!

and Kossu counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Spetz wants to control but Kossu is keeping busy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Still in half guard, Kossu seems content to control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Spetz tries to roll over but Kossu keeps him under control.
Kossu content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Kossu escapes and gets back to his feet.
Spetz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kossu as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hanzel Spetz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kossu cracks Spetz with a right hand to the side of the head.
Kossu swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Spetz counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kossu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spetz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Spetz stops Kossu from standing up.
Spetz looking to sit in guard and control but Kossu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Spetz has his foot on Kossu's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kossu works his way back into a safe position though.
Kossu stays in close to Spetz's body and controls the position.

Spetz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Kossu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Spetz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kossu stuffs the takedown attempt from Spetz. Spetz gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Spetz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Spetz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kossu is looking to escape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kossu really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Spetz is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Kossu tries to hold on but Spetz pushes him away.
Spetz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Spetz looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Spetz looking to control but Kossu is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Frank Kossu is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kossu squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Spetz goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kossu turns into him and now he's in Spetz's guard.
Spetz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kossu controls the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hanzel Spetz.
Well Kossu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
