Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Abbott (ranked 2633 p4p, 2791 weight class) and Bobojo Makoba (ranked 316 p4p, 331 weight class). Bobojo Makoba has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dave Abbott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bobojo Makoba!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott tries to score a power double leg takedown but Makoba sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Abbott somewhat.
Makoba now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Abbott shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Makoba pinned against the cage. Makoba gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Makoba scores with a body shot.
Makoba lands with a shot to the body.
Abbott takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Makoba misses with a few strikes there.
Abbott takes a jab right on the kisser.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Makoba keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Abbott.
Makoba connects with a body shot that sends Abbott's belly button to the back.
Makoba ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Abbott throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Abbott looking to score a takedown here. Makoba is defending well but Abbott drives through and ends up in Makoba's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Abbott with a flurry of punches that miss.
Makoba looking to hit a scissor sweep but Abbott is one step ahead there.
Abbott has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Abbott trying to control the position from guard on top but Makoba is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Abbott lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Makoba tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Abbott connects with a couple of short punches.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abbott throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Makoba works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Abbott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Makoba swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Makoba looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Makoba has control of Abbott's left arm, preventing Abbott from doing any damage.
Makoba avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Abbott wants to clinch up but Makoba keeps it at a distance.
Abbott takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Abbott tries to clinch but Makoba moves out of range.
Abbott closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Abbott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Makoba connects with an inside leg kick.
Abbott throws a nice looking combination but Makoba bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Abbott goes for a double leg but Makoba avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Makoba continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Abbott. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Makoba takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Abbott swings wildly with an uppercut but Makoba uses good head movement to avoid it.
Come on Makoba - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Makoba wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Abbott has him pressed against the cage.

Makoba breaks from the clinch.
Abbott misses with a combination
and Makoba counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Abbott looks for a takedown but Makoba sprawls well.
Makoba swats away the attempt to clinch by Abbott.
Makoba thuds a left hand into Abbott's body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bobojo Makoba dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Abbott misses with a takedown

Abbott stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Makoba.
Abbott's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Makoba connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Abbott scrambles back to his feet.
Makoba changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Dave Abbott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Abbott takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Makoba drops Abbott with a beautiful combination! Abbott stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Makoba is looking for the KO!

Abbott is rocked!

It looks like Dave Abbott has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Makoba moves in close and cracks Abbott with a massive right hand! Abbott, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Makoba!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bobojo Makoba!
