Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Julian Avila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rico Rodriguez!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avila keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Avila is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Avila moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Avila pushes Rodriguez away with a front kick.
Avila listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Rodriguez clinches with his opponent.
A right hook to the body lands for Avila.
Avila pushes Rodriguez back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Avila breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rodriguez shoots in looking for a takedown but Avila manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rodriguez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Avila appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Avila scores with the left hand. Rodriguez knows he should have avoided that one.
Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Julian Avila has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rico Rodriguez.

Avila jabs Rodriguez right on the nose. Rodriguez blinks but takes it well.
Rico Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Avila darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Rodriguez moves in looking to clinch but Avila pushes him off.

Avila throws a leg kick which misses Rodriguez's front leg but catches the back leg as Rodriguez tries to avoid it.
Rodriguez looks to land a combination but Avila avoids it well.

Rodriguez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Rodriguez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Avila is looking for a sweep. Rodriguez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rodriguez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Avila doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Avila is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
